Anaprox is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to relieve mild to moderate pain and menstrual cramps. Anaprox is also prescribed for relief of the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis (the most common form of arthritis), and for ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis), tendinitis, bursitis, acute gout, and other conditions. Anaprox also may be prescribed for juvenile arthritis.

Naproxen belongs to a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).  This drug is used for the management of mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation. Naproxen  works by reducing the levels of prostaglandins, chemicals that are responsible for pain, fever and inflammation. Naproxen blocks the enzyme that makes prostaglandins (cyclooxygenase ), resulting in lower concentrations of prostaglandins. As a consequence, inflammation, pain and fever are reduced.
